This awesomely quick Mk1 Golf Gti 1.8 8v is owned by Wellington based motorsport enthusiast John Wright.

He has campaigned this car in hillclimbs and sprints over many years and has enjoyed much success especially at the amazing, Wiscombe Park Hillclimb.

The car has a Pure Motorsport built engine with a big valve cylinder head and Newman cam. Running on Jenvey throttle bodies and Emerald engine management the car produces around 150bhp at the wheels. Matched to a very close ratio gearbox and meagre weight this is a very competitive package.

The suspension is sorted thanks to some Avo Coilovers and brakes uprated to G60 spec.
