Racing2008This year saw Pure Motorsport have a year off from competing in our own cars to give us more time to concentrate on building the business and our new car. Our new circuit race car is a Renaultsport Clio 172 2.0l 16v. We are preparing the shell ourselves which includes seam welding of the the vehicle and fitting of a weld in Chromoly roll cage to reduce the overall finished weight. Custom seat mounts and front subframe mounts have been designed and fabricated. The engine work is well underway with forged pistons and rods being fitted. The cylinder head has been modified and tools have been designed in house to allow us to accurately time up adjustable camshaft pulleys and lock the cams in position to make easier work of fitting up the cylinder head. The suspension development is underway which includes a full wide track front wishbone package including a custom front subframe, adjustable rose-jointed wide wishbones, and new outer suspension pick ups to regain a suitable roll centre after the car has been lowered. Coilover struts are being developed in association with Koni Motorsport for circuit use. This is an ongoing project so watch this space for more news on the car and photos of progress will be posted in due course... All these products will be available to you as soon as the vehicle and testing are complete. 2005Pure Motorsport have been involved in many forms of motorsport over the years and we have had huge success with our Peugeot 205 GTI competing in both hillclimbs and sprints and more recently the Toyo Tyres Modified Production Saloon Car Championship. In 2005 Pure Motorsports' 205 GTI finished 8th overall in the Toyo Mod Prods and had a consistent season with only two non finishes in 12 races (only one due to mechanical problems!). Our 180bhp 1.9l engine proved to be as bullet-proof as ever but could have done with more power as the front running 205s were running over 200bhp with 2.1l conversions based on touring car liners! Despite the power difference the pin-sharp handling of our 205 was a match for the heavier, more powerful cars of the series which saw the Pug in the top three a few times in the season.
2004In 2004 our Peugeot 205 GTI dominated the 1.8-2.6 litre class in the ASWMC hillclimb championship and was the car to beat all season. We had eight class wins, two second places with only one non-finish all season which was a fantastic achievement. This car was a 1.9l GTI running about 180bhp on Weber 45s. It ran a SRD head with a Newman cam and followers. It had wide track rose-jointed front suspension with bespoke subframe and Leda coilover dampers. Safety was courtesy of Safety Devices with Corbeau Seats and Sparco harnesses. This car weighed in at 780kg thanks to a lightened shell and carbon fibre bonnet. This low weight ensured great agility with power to match.
